Texas Scholarships by County, starting with Lee County

It is the 5th day of school, and I decided that I would change my focus this year.  My daughter is in 7th grade and goes to a private school.  I got to thinking about whether I wanted her to go to public school for her highschool years.  Then my focus changed and I got to thinking what scholarships would be available for her if she did or did NOT go to public school.

Living in a small community has it perks.  They give many, many scholarships.  We have dozens of clubs here that work hard doing fundraisers all year just to give scholarships to our seniors.

The 2010 graduating class students received $300,000.00+ in funds if I am not mistaken.  That is a lot of money for a small town.  This does not include all the schools in Lee County. I will have to do some research but I believe there is a wealth of scholarships out there and our children need to know about them.

Check back often for lists of available scholarships, locations of applications, and dues dates.  I am hoping to provide valuable information for our upcoming graduates.

Have a marvelous year,

  2. Thank goodness for your foresight. It will be such a great tool for people as they prepare their children for the winding road ahead. College is expensive, however with great planning and a little research you can help fund your children's college fund. Keep up the good work!

  3. Another really good website for scholarship searching is Fastweb.com. You spend 20-30 minutes filling out a detailed profile and they search for you. And believe me, they've found some obscure scholarships for me to apply for. One was 'you qualify for this scholarship if you belong to 3 or more social networks'. The money is definitely out there if a little time and effort is applied!
